Sutherland Entertainment Centre
This project involved a major refurbishment and new build with a budget of $1.2 million. The collaboration with ADCO, a leading construction company known for its commitment to sustainability and community engagement, ensured a high-quality and socially responsible approach.
Design Features
The project incorporated numerous intricate masonry design features, including:
- Dogtoothing Brickwork: A decorative technique where bricks are laid at an angle, creating a serrated pattern that adds texture and visual interest.
- Soldier Courses Brickwork: Rows of bricks laid vertically on their ends, often used as a decorative feature or to enhance the structural integrity of walls.
Technical Challenges
One of the primary technical challenges in this project was the construction of two-story high brick columns. This aspect required careful planning and execution to ensure stability and aesthetic appeal.
Material Selection
The bricks for this project were sourced from Bowral, specifically the Gertrudis Brown range. Known for their beauty, strength, and timeless style, these Australian-made bricks contribute to the project’s overall durability and visual appeal.
By focusing on sustainable practices, innovative design, and high-quality materials, this project aims to create a space that is not only functional but also enhances the community and environment.
